Homeopathic Remedies serve as a signal that helps you mount a more robust response to an illness or injury

Lisa Samet, naturopath, has chosen to focus on homeopathy because in her experience it is the deepest healing modality available in that it does not just soothe or palliate symptoms but can actually trigger the body to start to heal itself.

A piece by Dr. Lisa Samet: At some point in life, everyone will fall prey to an illness or injury. It’s part of being alive.

And that’s where homeopathy has an amazing role to play.

Ordinary medicine works largely by suppressing the symptoms of disease. For patients with acute problems – like a cough, sore throat, or stomach bug – the suppressive effects of pharmaceuticals often include side effects and at best, misses an opportunity to have the immune system flex its muscles and become stronger by healing itself.

The suppression/palliation treatment strategy, which has a variety of potentially disruptive and sometimes harmful side effects, is particularly risky for children. As has been well documented, there are often no conventional drugs that are considered to be completely safe to give a child who has an acute problem like a cough or a cold!

Homeopathy uses substances found in nature, in very small doses, to stimulate a self-healing response.

Homeopathic remedies don’t suppress symptoms or impair your body’s innate capacity to heal. Instead, they serve as a simple, stimulating signal to your sick body, a signal that helps you mount a more robust response to an illness or injury.

And here is the good part… homeopathy helps speed your recovery without any adverse side effects or drug interactions. In fact, I frequently find that patients who use homeopathy during an acute illness not only respond beautifully to the remedy but also seem to be less susceptible to future problems.

Given what we know about homeopathy after 200 years of use by hundreds of thousands of physicians and hundreds of millions of patients, shouldn’t we encourage everyone to give it a try?
