The Imponderables in Homeopathy

The Imponderables in Homeopathy

Dates/times:  Sunday, November 27, 2022  (11am – 6pm EDT) | Cost $75  | Lecturer: Pat Deacon

One of the most intriguing aspects of the Homeopathic Materia Medica is a mysterious group of remedies known as The Imponderables. They fall outside of the standard Animal, Mineral and Plant categories and their very creation defies logic! They are remedies that are energetic in substance as well as name. Some are old, and many are new.

Yet, I find, living in our current digital age, that these are important remedies to understand. We all have cases which we find “imponderable”! We meet sensitive patients who suffer from the effects of EMF radiation from computers, cell phones and other energetic sources. We see medical technology’s impact– MRI’s, radiotherapy, or ultrasound – on others. As homeopaths, we need the tools to help these folks. In such cases, the prescription of an imponderable remedy can be transformative in a patient’s life.

In this class, I will present an overview of many of the known Imponderable remedies, beginning with Hahnemann’s work with magnets and Allen’s Xray. We will talk about how these remedies were captured and refined into our medicines and how they can be used. I will also share, with case examples, some of the best-known Imponderable remedies and the ones that I have found most helpful in my practice. I will also share the best sources for accessing the provings and materia medica of the Imponderable remedies.

I fell in love with Homeopathy in 1981 when my husband and I took our oldest child to see Louis Klein in Vancouver, B.C. for treatment.  We knew nothing about Homeopathy, but we saw it as our last chance, having tried everything else.

The consulting process and the perspective on health and disease – not to mention the results- impressed me deeply. When I purchased some books and began reading Kent, my love for this Art and Science grew further.

We eventually made our way to England, where I studied professionally at Purton House School of Homeopathy. I practiced in Saffron Walden and Cambridge for several years. I also registered with the Society of Homeopaths in 1998, of which I am still an overseas member. Finally, we returned to Canada in 1999, where I graduated from Louis Klein’s post-grad Homeopathic Master Practitioner programme and practiced and taught homeopathy in several provinces.

We moved to Ontario in 2009 – to Ottawa and, later, to the village of Vankleek Hill.  During that time, I was a registered member of the College of Homeopaths of Ontario, the provincial regulatory body.

COVID and the distance from our family drew us back to Penticton, B.C., where I now live with my husband and two cats.  I practice, teach, mentor, and supervise students on Zoom.

I continually study homeopathy and I regularly attend seminars and webinars with many wonderful teachers. Important influences on my homeopathic understanding and education are Louis Klein, Jan Scholten, Ulrich Welte, Michal Yakir, Deborah Collins, Markus Kuntosch, Peter Tumminello, and Jonathan Hardy.

My love for homeopathy has only grown over the years. Yet, I continue to be impressed and astonished at its largely unseen and unrecognized potential for dramatically changing peoples’ lives.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
