Adolescent Psychology and Homeopathy: Depression, Eating Disorders and Screen Addiction

We are very excited to be offering a three-session course of timely subject matter. We are taking a deep dive into issues pertaining to Adolescent Mental Health, namely: anxiety and depression, eating disorders, and screen addictions.

These concerns have been on most health practitioner’s radars for many years, but the crisis in adolescent mental health has evolved into a much more critical state since the COVID pandemic and long periods of social isolation.

This lecture series will look at the causative factors that compel young people to develop pathology in this arena, focusing on the connection between thought, feeling, and function. The need to escape from painful perceptions of reality can lead young people to seek sensory pleasure from food, screen distraction, mind altering substances (which will not be focused on in this course), and thereby promote self-created addictive patterns which seem impossible to break.

The presentations in this course will be case based. Detailed discussions of symptoms and remedies in relation to these cases will provide you with a deeper knowledge of remedies that can bring about better patient outcomes in dealing with these sorts of pathologies.

Good homeopathic care, based on a deeper understanding of a constitutional approach that supports and promotes the transition from self-destructive and self-sabotaging behaviours to ones of self-care and a balanced approach to navigating the tension between pain and pleasure can make a huge difference in the lives of some of our troubled young patients.

Ashit has received his degree in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery from Shivaji University in India, where he worked and studied with many renowned Homeopaths, such as Nandita Shah and Rajan Sankaran.

During his over 30 years of practice he has successfully treated over 1,000 cases. He now lives and practices in Toronto.  Ashit has been teaching Homeoapthy for over two decades and part of the faculty at OCHM for many years.  He is loved by all of his students!
