Homeopathy Clinic in Ontario

The Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine provides specialized and individualized treatment to our patients in our homeopathic teaching clinic.  Call us to book your appointment at 416.535.5995 today!

We are a not-for-profit institution providing a wide range of in depth Classical Homeopathic courses in Ontario.

Students enrolled in all diploma programs receive intensive training in the college's full-time Student Teaching Clinic. Supervised by trained Homeopaths, students are well-grounded in the practice of homeopathic medicine. This is a unique experience that only OCHM offers and that enables students to be hands-on in their clinical training.

We feel strongly that a complete Homeopathic education requires live patient care.  A student cannot achieve the same level of mastery and bedside manner by watching someone else practice. We have developed our clinical training with that in mind. Our students graduate with real experience having treated and seen more hours than are required by our regulatory body.  All of our students are trained under the guidance and supervision of very seasoned Homeopaths and are able to help our community at a reasonable price, making homeopathy accessible to everyone.

As an added benefit, our thriving teaching clinic offers students a successful start to their Homeopathic careers by supporting word of mouth referral to their practices.  Our students get the opportunity to retain all of the patients they see in our teaching clinic, thereby, starting their practices even before they have graduated from our program.  This gives our students a patient base, as well as a space to begin their professional practices as regulated healthcare professionals.

The teaching clinic is open on weekdays all year round.
Upon successful completion of the diploma programs the Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine will grant graduates a Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine & Health Sciences (D.H.M.H.S.).

Homeopathic Medicine plays a vital role in integrative healthcare. It can be used on its own to treat both chronic and acute conditions or in conjunction with conventional therapies. It is a safe, gentle and efficient medicine that treats on a holistic level.
People of all ages come to our clinic with a large range of needs from boosting their overall health with preventative measures, to the treatment of specific health problems.

Homeopathy can work effectively in treating people with a wide variety of problems including: skin diseases, colds and flu, allergies, digestive problems, infectious diseases, and even genetic or psychological disorders.

Every individual is assessed as a whole person and each case is seen as unique.

The full-time  teaching clinic at the Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine provides students with extensive clinical internship, and community and patients with affordable, high-standard care. Homeopathic Medicine at OCHM Homeopaths believe that good health comes from a balance between the mind, body and spirit and that each person has the ability to heal themselves from within.

Homeopathy is a system of natural medicine that uses very small doses of natural remedies from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms to stimulate the body’s self-healing abilities. It is a holistic practice which treats the symptoms of the body and mind as one; the symptoms of ill-health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person and therefore whole person needs treatment, not just the isolated symptoms of a particular illness. By healing on this level, one will ensure cure on a mental, emotional and physical plane that is non invasive, gentle, quick, safe and permanent.

Homeopathic medicine can be used preventatively, for chronic conditions as well as for acute conditions. Homeopathy is a holistic form of integrative medicine where each patient is treated individually and their symptoms addressed on a one-to-one basis. It is important that the practitioner understands the person’s constitution and character so that they can prescribe a medicine that is specific to them. In conventional (allopathic) medicine, people diagnosed with the same “condition” will generally be given the same medicine but in homeopathy, because the treatment protocol is as individual as the patient, the prescription depends on many factors (temperament, state of mind, lifestyle, thoughts, ideas and physical symptoms). The relationship between patient and practitioner makes the treatment protocol personal and helps the homeopath understand the underlying causes of one’s particular dis-ease.

The key to a successful prescription includes :

  • Understanding a patient’s symptoms
  • Recognizing the physical signs of an internal imbalance
  • Listening to the patient in a non-judgemental and confidential way
  • Being able to bring the patient to a place of freedom so that they can express themselves openly and confidently
  • Administering only one remedy at a time for the totality of the symptoms
Homeopathy College Ontario

Homeopathic Medicine is a safe and gently approach that complies with the most important tenet in medical practice: first do no harm. Since this medicine treats the person and not the disease, it can help people with the following conditions : children’s ear infections, colds, flus, skin conditions (acne, psoriasis, eczema), diabetes, hypertension, cancer, headaches, asthma, allergies, digestive problems, colitis, sleeping problems, infertility, PMS, arthritis, anxiety, depression, autism and much much more.
What to expect during a Homeopathic Consultation : the initial consultation takes approximately two hours. During that time, you will be asked to talk about yourself and all of your symptoms in as much detail as possible. You will also be asked to talk about events in your life that have had an impact on you so that the practitioners can understand how you deal with certain situations.

First-Class Homeopathy Training Ontario

After the initial consultation is finished, the practitioners will take a week to work on your case and ask you to return to pick up your remedy. At this time, they will have an opportunity to ask you some final questions (if required) and will provide you with the treatment protocol. This session is much shorter than the initial intake and will last approximately 20 minutes. Follow up appointments take between 30-60 minutes and the frequency of the appointments is based on the person’s condition.
With your first visit at the Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine’s Teaching Clinic you will be asked to complete a questionnaire regarding your current state of health and health history. The consultation will be with two senior student clinicians and supervised by an experienced Homeopath. The detailed initial consultation should take under two hours to help identify your health needs and to ensure that the clinicians have all the information relevant to the individual case. From this point the student clinicians will research the case and look for a remedy that fits the totality of the symptoms expressed.
Please print and complete the Consent Form and applicable Intake Form below and bring the completed intake form to your initial visit.

Our teaching clinic is truly unique among all other Homeopathic educational institutions.

OCHM is the only school that provides our student practitioners with the clinical internship required, under the supervision of experienced Homeopaths all the while treating patients with great care and success.

OCHM believes in sharing the knowledge and experience of all practitioners within the school clinic and is very grateful to those patients who have agreed to have their initial cases videotaped.

These video cases are integrated as additional reflective learning sessions (above and beyond all mandatory educational hours) to help student practitioners develop their case-taking skills. Each case is treated with strict patient confidentiality and anonymity.

What our Patients are saying..

Bringing my kids to the OCHM clinic was not only a friendly experience, but the homeopathic clinic provided them with remedies to assist in their general health. Since being under the care of the student homeopaths and a supervisor, all three of my sons have had great results. The changes in their mental and emotional spheres has had a positive impact on our family. Gilad’s fears are less and he just learnt to swim because he was brave enough to try getting into the water without his life jacket. Aviel feels he has many friends and doesn’t feel he is being bullied. Their older brother gets on with them much more and there is more harmony in the family even with two teenagers!

-- Natasha L, Toronto

I came to the OCHM teaching clinic well over a year ago with several health concerns. They included asthma, constipation, depression, pain in my hip and hypertension.

Over the course of several months, I can proudly say that I am free from all of my ailments and can now live a life of ease. The student practitioners and supervising Homeopathic Doctors are wonderful and I have referred many friends and relatives as I feel this medicine helped me the way no other ever has – with cure!  I am forever grateful.

-- Theodora T, Toronto

I was experiencing early symptoms of diabetes and had heard about homeopathic medicine through my wife. She said that if I received treatment, I’d be able to eat all the sweets I wanted to (in moderation of course). After only weeks of seeing my student practitioner, I felt as good as new. I thank OCHM’ s teaching clinic for being so awesome.

Patients Q & A

Is Homeopathy new?

Homeopathy has been used successfully worldwide for over 200 years and is recognized as the second most therapeutic form of medicine in the world today. It is the fasted growing form of medicine and has had achieved acclaim over the years as it is able to treat patients on a very individual basis.

What are Homeopathic Medicines made of?

Homeopathic medicines are prepared from very small doses of natural remedies from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms to stimulate the body’s self-healing abilities.

How does Homeopathy work?

Many of the symptoms we experience are a result of an underlying cause or internal disharmony. Homeopathic remedies stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms to permanently heal the underlying cause. For example, pain killers simply stop the message transmission of pain to the brain without removing the cause of the pain where homeopathic remedies completely cure the underlying cause without side effects and therefore address the pain at its source.

How Should I take a Homeopathic remedy?

A homeopathic remedy should be handled as little as possible – it can be tipped directly into the patient’s mouth. The pellets should be dissolved under the tongue and not chewed or swallowed (if possible). It is preferable to take the remedy away from food of strong odours (approximately 30 minutes away). In the case of children and animals, the pellets may be crushed between two spoons and administered quickly and easily.

How fast do Homeopathic remedies act?

Homeopathic remedies start working immediately after they are taken. They work differently for each patient and therefore each course of treatment is unique. Depending on the condition of the individual, cure may be achieved quickly or may take more time. For example, a flu may be tackled within days but a diabetic condition may take months to cure.

What is the difference between acute and chronic conditions?

Acute conditions generally have a rapid onset with severe symptoms that last for a short duration (e.g.  flu, malaria, acute renal infection) whereas chronic conditions exhibit symptoms that have a slow onset and long duration (e.g.  diabetes, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma).

By healing holistically, one will ensure cure on a mental, emotional and physical plane that is non-invasive, gentle, quick, safe and permanent.

Does Homeopathy work for problems caused by a virus?

Yes. Homeopathy is a good option for problems caused by a virus as they strengthen one’s ability to fight all signs of ill health.

Does Homeopathy work for infants and children? Is it safe?

Homeopathic remedies are safe and very effective for children. Using Homeopathic remedies from a young age (if required) will ensure that a child grows as healthfully as possible. They will be able to fight off symptoms of ill health on their own and develop optimally. Homeopathic Medicine is not only helpful in treating physical conditions like colds, coughs, fevers, vomiting, diarrhoea, dysentery, colic, tonsillitis, bronchitis, asthma, chicken pox and mumps , it is also effective in the treatment of behavioural problems commonly seen in children like: irritability, obstinacy, temper-tantrums, fears, phobias, thumb-sucking, nail biting, destructiveness, bed-wetting, autism and ADD. You can rest assured that there are no side effects to using Homeopathic remedies nor do they interfere with conventional treatment protocols.

Will Homeopathic medicine interfere with other drugs or treatments that I am currently undertaking?

No, Homeopathic medicines will not interfere with other treatment protocols. Keep in mind however that Homeopathy is very effective and as such, it would be in your best interest to always keep communication open with your family doctor and monitor your progress so that they can adjust your therapies as required. Never change or stop using any medication that has been prescribed to you by your medical doctor unless you have spoken to them about it first.

How often do I have to keep coming to the clinic?

This is a question that cannot be answered broadly.  Since each patient is treated individually, each treatment protocol is also individual.  After the first prescription, it is recommended that the patient return within a month for their first follow up and after that, the frequency of follow ups depends on the progress of the patient and how they are feeling.

Do I need a referral from my physician to see a homeopath at your clinic?

No, a letter of referral is not required to book an appointment with student practitioners at the clinic. The Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine’s Teaching Clinic is open to the public and welcomes walk-in patients. The clinic is located at 332 Dupont Street (near the Dupont Subway Station).  Please call 416-535-5995 to book an appointment today.
